Ahimsa (Non-Violence) to the self!

The word "Ahimsa" literally means "Non-Violence". Often times people associate the term non-violence with "not to hurt/harm anyone physically". But this term has a more in depth meaning to it. Non-violence is tied to all aspects - physical, mental, and emotional actions. This act can be to others as well as to one's own self.

How often have we pondered about the impact we create to our selves when we tell negative things about our own body & mind. When we say "I am not strong, I am not worthy, I am not capable, I am not skinny, I am not beautiful", etc., we are creating violence in our mind. We are nothing but our thoughts. When the body & mind hears negative thoughts, it start to believe those & aligns our life towards that. Our actions consequences from there on are directly related to those negative draining thoughts. This results in hurting ourselves physically, mentally & emotionally.

Mental & emotional violence is more dangerous and painful than the physical one, as it is like a slow poison.

So, how do we know that we practice non-violence to our self?

Go ahead and ask these questions to your self:

1) Do I take care of my health by eating healthy, wholesome foods that are locally sourced?

2) Do I take care of my body by exercising enough to stay healthy and happy?

3) Do I allow myself to rest in order to refuel and replenish my body?

4) Do I appreciate the gifts that life has given me?

5) Do I encourage myself with positive words and thoughts?

6) Do I have a hobby or anything I like to do in my free time?

It is time to invest in yourself, take care of your body, and discover true happiness. Start healthy routines and feed your body, mind & soul with optimistic thoughts.

A healthy mind leads to a happy life!
