We are all destined to attain divinity whether in this birth or next birth or births after births. As seekers, we all tend to focus on attaining the goal more than enjoying the process (any kind of Sadhana). We strive to reach a particular posture, meditate or go on a pilgrimage or whatever may be the goal of our Sadhana is and if it does not happen, we easily get disappointed. Most of this happens when we start to compare ourselves to others. This kind of thinking deviates from our path of seeking and stop the Sadhana abruptly. For us to even think about God in this birth is because of all our punya karma in our previous births. I strongly believe the complex algorithm of Karma controls everything in our life.
"Among thousands of men, perhaps one who strives for spiritual attainment, and, among the blessed true seekers that assiduously try to reach Me, perhaps one perceives Me as I am" - Sri Krishna | Bahagvat Gita
"So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen" - Jesus | Matthew 20:16
There are similarities to what Krishna and Jesus. Only a chosen few can reach the divinity. Until then we have to keep seeking.
"Health is wealth, Peace of mind is happiness, Yoga shows the way" - Swami Vishnudevananda
This quote from Swami Vishnudevananda sums up beautifully what Yoga helps to achieve. It cannot be put more precisely than this. Yoga incorporated as a lifestyle helps us to seek and keeps our mind away from materialistic pursuits.
"பிறவிப் பெருங்கடல் நீந்துவர் நீந்தார்
இறைவன் அடிசேரா தார்" - திருவள்ளுவர்
"Piravip perunkadal neenthuvar neenthaar
Iraivan adiseraa dhar" - Thiruvalluvar
Finally, Thiruvalluvar has written concisely on how to stop rebirths. The only way to stop the cycles of birth and rebirths is surrendering to the abode of God. Replace God with divinity, Nature, Brahman, Atman, Self as you please.
As long as we do our Sadhana dedicatedly with positive attitude, surrendering all our actions to the divine supreme power, and stop comparing ourselves with others, and enjoy the worldly materialistic pursuits, pleasures and desires (Artha, Kama) in righteous (Dharma) way, liberation is (Moksha) is sure to be attained.
But, when? We don't know. Until then, we shall keep seeking.
Om tat sat! 🙏
