Rachel was not introduced to yoga until her early twenties. Her yogic journey began amidst chaos, as many do. Her life, as she had known it from childhood, was being uprooted with her parents divorce, sibling addiction, and significant social circle changes. She found her self spending more time alone than she ever had experienced before. It was a time where Rachel found herself asking these infamous questions: Who am I? What is my purpose? What is the purpose of this world I live in? Through these questions, the Universe provided answers using interactions with others as a vessel.

Rachel found herself exploring meditation per the recommendation of a close friend, that was echoed by new people she was meeting. A total novice, she decided to give it a try. It began with a few minutes here and there and soon grew into longer, deeper, mind blowing experiences. She searched to enhance her study of this mind-evolving practice and in doing so, was introduced to incredible books, other meditation styles, and the meditation enhancing practice of Yoga.
Falling in love with her studies of her Universe within and it’s interactions and manifestation of the world around her, she especially resonated with the philosophy of Yoga. Yoga offered the only explanation for the experiences she was having physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. It was time for her to expand her knowledge and she did so by enrolling in studies at The Temple of Kriya Yoga in Chicago. The teacher training experience initiated a major shift for her life.

Since graduating over a decade ago, Rachel has taught yoga, meditation, and yoga philosophy to students and teachers of all levels. She has partnered with incredible yoga studios and teachers to develop teacher training programs, retreats, workshops, and more.
I was born and raised in India, and practicing yoga, pranayama, & meditation was always a part of my daily routine both at home and at school. I believe in the conscious movement of the body through the asanas, (Yoga postures) along with pranayama, (Breathing Techniques). We often take things for granted and if we learn to use the tools we have in hand we can open up a whole new world of experiences. A yoga practice done with the awareness of breath will help us grow stronger not only physically but also emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.

I am a certified RYT 200 and got my yoga certification under the Sivananda Yoga lineage. Since then, I have been teaching several yoga classes in Illinois and Arizona and also teaching/training new teacher trainees who are interested in becoming a yoga instructor. I volunteered at the Hindu Temple of Yoga in Chicago for several years, sharing the knowledge of this ancient practice.
