In today's busy world, we often forget to take care of ourselves. Stress is often a result of this. However, by incorporating breathing exercises into your yoga practice, you can easily alleviate stress and calm down.

You can certainly involve breath work in almost any kind of yoga practice. For example, in Surya Namaskar, (Traditional Sun Salutation) you can use breathing techniques such as inhaling and exhaling. Simply inhale at the start of the sequence, and then exhale as you start the next posture. Likewise, when starting the next posture, inhale, and then when starting the posture after, exhale. By incorporating breath work into your yoga practice, you are doing your body a great favor. Breathing techniques have a very positive effect on your lungs, as well as your mind. So the next time you practice yoga, try to include these simple breathing exercises!
